Preventive maintenance for scroll and semi-hermetic compressors: a guide for refrigeration shops

Scroll and semi-hermetic compressors are the heart of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. Proper preventive maintenance is essential to avoid costly failures and keep the system energy efficient.

Preventive maintenance should include regular checks of the refrigeration oil level, since a low level can cause severe damage to the internal components of the compressor. We recommend checking the oil every 3 to 6 months depending on use.

Another critical point is detecting refrigerant leaks. Leaks not only reduce the efficiency of the system; they can also cause the compressor to overheat. We use electronic leak detectors and ultraviolet inspection methods to locate them precisely.

Cleaning condensers and evaporators is also part of essential maintenance. A dirty condenser raises the condensing pressure, which means higher electricity consumption and a shorter compressor life.

At Proreg we offer scheduled maintenance plans that include an energy-efficiency diagnosis, cleaning of critical components, checks of operating pressures and temperatures, and replacement with original parts when needed.
